Life is a touchy thing. Terrifying, painful, uplifting, joyous, dull, tedious, exciting and thrilling. All of it matters. All life matters. I've lost three children, two to miscarriages and one, long ago, to planned "parenthood" but I have a daughter and a son whom I love.

We never get over those losses, my wife was especially devastated by miscarriages, but we moved through it and on and we remember but don't reside back there in the dark. My boy lights us up, drives us mad and is an absolute blessing. As all children are.

So with that out of the way, as I keep my prayers up for the Smith family today I'm going to steal a bit of thunder. My son is going to make a great big brother later this year. Get your priorities straight, don't cower in fear and go live life. God bless.

You’re a better father for all of this. You’ve got this, man. Lean into the challenges and draw those lessons. Make them count.
