I’ve never played Warhammer 40k, but when my kids are old enough I am investing in a few sets to teach them strategy and systems. Chess will come first, but open terrain and individual variables is a whole new layer. None of this digital stuff. Tactical and tactile table games.

I used to help watch over a game store so If breaking kids into table top miniature games would wait till least 8 - 12 years old, for GW stuff Necromunda, Mordheim, Blood Bowl an Space Hulk. Less minis to paint but good start to tactics an adapting to the randomness of a d6.

Trick to painting minis is the pinky. When painting the hand holding the brush just extend that pinky to touch the other hand holding the mini. gives you a little support an confidence.

Definitely a useful trick. I’ve painted many pewter ones myself.
