We transform culture by making culture. Period.
Books, music, movies, TV. We make it and make it better than them, and the culture becomes ours once again.pic.twitter.com/FGqXWaz6pD

If we make it and no one talks about it it dies on the vine and no one finds it. It’s necessary! This is how corporate media keeps their brands going by having discussion always centered on their books, films, etc. it’s hard to fight and kill their culture as a consequence.
People been talking about decadence in culture since the Beats in the 50's, and that's, at best, slowed the decay. Now, slowing it isn't a bad thing and I don't want to sneer, but you only fight back by making culture, not just bemoaning it.
I happen to think you’re both right. I also think Jon is talking about building hype for the good products, not complaining about what’s lost (or so I read it). You guys are both rock solid on these points. Now just put them together. Produce great culture and get people talking.
But if you only produce 5 things, it’s impossible to keep that hype train rolling.
Produce things, get people talking AND SPENDING, produce more things, repeat. Gotta have both sides in play. So, you’re both correct. You just see it from different angles right now.
