As a therapist, you know what question I get asked incredibly frequently by nervous patients? “I get these weird flashes of me doing awful things I’d never do. It really bothers me. Is that normal?” Me, pretending I’ve never thought about dropkicking a baby: “No, that’s weird.”pic.twitter.com/9iyAOuT0cS

So thinking about drop kicking babies is normal?

I am far from normal. 🤣 But this sort of thing is massively common. Our society is saturated with horrible images, and during times of stress our brain can dive into weird “What would make this situation awful?” ponderings. Everyone is too nervous to ask anyone else about it.

Now i ain't no therapist, but those are perfectly fine, provided we don't act on them.

Just think of it as first auditions for life choices. You've got to sort through a lot of turkeys to narrow down the field. Dropkicking the baby will almost certainly not make past the first stage but you've got to remain open to the possibility of evil killer baby.

People who dont have dark thoughts or dont admit to having them bother me. Part of being a whole person is knowing you are capable of dark and violent things. You have to know that part of you and be capable of utilizing it in the right circumstances.

How much to find out why I keep daydreaming that I'm falling from high altitude? Not a joke. Not a scared of hitting dream either. Just up there with wind and nothing.
