Been looking for a family motto, something to repeat to my children that sets the tone for our family and conveys our principles. Something they’ll always remember. “A Smith’s word is iron.”

Crest of the town my family is from and after which we are named. I'm sure it's crass to claim and use it for yourself like this, but I'm American, so I do stuff like that. Town legend says we made up the majority of Robin Hood's merry men. Which is why I wear cargo tights.

My two strongest impulses are to seek the truth and to avoid conflict. I don't think it's an accident that my family motto endorses the good one and calls out the bad one.

Love, my paternal side is from 2 noble French families that immigrated to Canada. I have a 2 crests and mottos. You’re welcome to use them. Unless you want to use your maternal fathers crest. He had one.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
