The rule of thumb a few years ago is that 10 reviews (written reviews) are the magic number. Under 10 and potential readers assume those reviews were all paid for or written by your mom. More than 10 indicates that the writing is actually worth strangers leaving a good review.

Do you recommend people leaving reviews for just reading the sample? What’s the method?
-
I’d recommend reading the whole work. And be honest. Authors benefit from feedback.

just be sure to read them before you 'review' them.... to many authors have friends who 'review' their stuff and say it's 'good' when it's actually trash.
