Today at Mass my youngest daughter was not behaving. And we were in the front row. Instead of being rude, the little old lady behind us leaned forward and gave my daughter a book, saying “She can keep it.” My daughter, pleased with the gift, settled down for the rest of mass.

In fairness the priest at our old parish used to come down on people like a ton of bricks for it. “I have priest friends in Florida that spend all their time saying funeral masses and last rites. Be happy our parish isn’t dying.”

But it happens, a lot. It’s baffling to me. I still get nervous going back to our old parish for mass sometimes because of the one time that woman was so nasty to me all through mass.
