Moral of Story: Small measures now prevent disasters later. Like when you slowly replace and repair the small things in a house rather than wait 35 years to redo the roof and discover you have wood rot everywhere and termites.

Oh, unfortunately that’s not what the fire analogy is about (it’s the opposite) Doing small “repairs” is the problem. The key (to self organized criticality) is to let it burn & not interfere. I’m not saying put the small fires out. I’m saying Nature is doing small maintaince with the small fires to avoid massive fire later. Nature is the one in control of its repairs
