@TheBrometheus so I'm up to chapter 5 (outcomes vs principles). Two things:
1. It's weird how many of my friends I recognize in your descriptions.
2. I once gave a friend the (solicited) advice that being authentic is easy: identify your principles and try to live up to them.

@TheBrometheus 2. (cont) and that if you do that - try and unfortunately sometimes fail to live up to your principles - congratulations, you're being authentic. It's not some magic transcendent state, it's just a daily grind of having more important things to do than one's whims.1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -
@TheBrometheus but that was just me "shooting from the hip". It's really interesting to see basically the same idea presented in a therapeutic setting, and presented in a way to make it widely accessible.1 reply 0 retweets 1 likeShow this thread -

Have you read Walker Percy's *Lost in the Cosmos: The Last Self Help Book*? The first two pages of chapter 6 (about what doesn't last at one's death) very strongly remind me of his section on the ex-su*cide. That's some blunt talk!

No I haven’t, but this sounds like a good book to pick up. Thank you.

Just to be clear (and only using the affiliate link for brevity), this one: https://amzn.to/38hLXy4 I read it as a teenager on the recommendation of a philosophical mentor. I'm not sure how it is as a self-help book, but it's phenomenally good as accessible philosophy.

My pleasure. Also, just for clarification, I literally don't know how it is as a self help book. It could be awesome, for all I know. I'm just not qualified to evaluate that aspect.
