Get weird. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and suicide are all around us, but so often they’re invisible. Get weird. Be the person who shares a little too much, who really answers how you’re doing, who stops and listens to people and digs a little deeper. Be that guy. Get weird.

Had a family member commit suicide 1 year ago. If you see this message and open up about your problems, or stop to help a stranger or loved one you’d normally bypass out of politeness, that transforms his memory from a tragic story to a legacy of healing.

Sometimes people are not sure of or aware of what they should even talk to others about. I think taking time to contemplate what we wish to say to someone, or to ourselves, is often important for this very reason.

The depth people often need to get to for having a conversation like that, is searched for carefully most of the time. Sometimes it's the result of what's accumulated and then pops up. Meditating on it seems to speed up the accumulation to some extent.

So let people ramble, let them feel safe. Help them think through talking to you if you sense that they need it. And if you have the surplus to give the effort. Ask questions with sincere wishes of trying to understand them, and possibly as a side effect guiding their thinking.

I realize some of what i wrote was already in the message you wrote. But I felt that making it more explicit instead of compact can help people realize how to practically act in this way. As i find that it makes people imagine the scenario more.
