No one in the world can force you to feel anything. Every emotion you experience is your choice. Turning power over to everyone else robs you of the ability to change. But it’s still you choosing that setup.

I get what you're saying, and the Stoic ethos under it, but emotional responses are precognitive. They're also often self-justifying, carry chemical refractory periods, and can cascade in spirals, both positively and negatively. This simply isn't true.

This is like saying, “I can’t stop drinking because the impulses are precognitive and I’m often hungover.” Dialectical behavior therapy is entirely about learning to control one’s emotional responses and reshape the precognitive impulses over time.
