One unpleasant therapist reality is that I can’t ethically conduct therapy while exhausted or badly sick. Other jobs can power through and do a halfway job, but I’d be committing fraud against paying clients. We also work independently and get no sick pay. But ethics must hold.

I have been sick 13 times in the last 13 months. All of my family has. We’ve seen doctors who tell us this is just how families with toddlers go. Some years are worse than others. We’ve had tests run and signs just point to an endless cycle of crap. We take vitamins to no avail.

Savings are way down to the dregs because of all this sick time. Working overtime at home on books and side projects to make up the difference. Praying the sickness lifts. When I talk about honor having a price, I’m paying it. I will not compromise and steal money from clients.
