Many new fathers, some of the best in the world, feel tremendous pressure and guilt if they don’t bond with their child immediately upon birth. Men bond by teaching and being taught. When your child is old enough to learn from you, that bond will form. Be present when it comes.

This is such an interesting insight! Since I've been teaching sword fighting basics, my relationship with my son and male students has been much more mature and less grating. Maybe women misinterpret the intention of (some) "mansplaining".

Men explain when they value the other person. The expectation is the other person will say “I’ve heard this part” and find a common ground for shared knowledge. When men explain, it’s a signal they respect the other person. But women would only talk that way to a child.

Thank you for the explanation! I've seen this (and asking for info is how I start my convos with the male students), but it's good to hear the purpose and intent.

Sounds like they respect you if they’re explaining. :)
