But is it a 'special purpose' location? Or do you do other stuff there? I'm having the damnest time focusing at my primary computer, so I end up taking my laptop out to cafes and bars to write. It's...better, but not good.

No. The brain works on association. The same reason you don’t play video games or watch YouTube in bed. This is purely a work area.

Unproductive associations with the work space, no rituals to help shift mindset, not enough protein or supplements to have a healthy mind, incorrect music to foster flow state... lots of factors.
