One should not criticize one’s father in public. The only person who can declare a pope to be heretical is another Pope. The Pope also serves as a good test for the faithful, if they submit only when it suits them or if they have faith God oversees His Church.

We definitely talk about it. We can express dismay or concern, and we definitely do. But I’ve seen Catholics saying they’re waiting for his death, even calling for his death, and declaring him this or that, and those things are antithetical to our faith.

I am intensely dismayed by some of his choices. They are not the choices I would make. But as he’s the earthly head of our family, it’s not my place to disagree with his decisions. I either believe God oversees the Church and will correct problems, or I don’t.
