For some people, death is remote and vague. When they finally see it, death becomes a constant terror. Then there are those who get so used to death that it becomes a simple fact of life. I lost every grandparent in a single year, and that was pretty normal for that year.

I think many people in the modern West have an unhealthy relationship with death. Not sure that they even consider that an animal had to die to get them their chicken nuggets. The same St Francis that spoke of Brother Sun and Sister Moon also honored Sister Death...
