Being Christian comes with some very specific codes of behavior, laws which we are commanded to follow. They are not optional and form the center of covenantal life. Mercy and salvation are extended through grace, but at the price of obedience and covenantal living.

Yeah I’ve talked with a few Catholics and come to find it’s not nearly as big of a gap as some would like to think. It’s definitely there but a lot is just a misunderstanding of terms.

This is generally correct. Righteousness through works is heresy. The issue comes when Catholics are poorly taught what the Church actually believes.
