In what ways would you say they are acting like atheists? Sorry.

Being Christian comes with some very specific codes of behavior, laws which we are commanded to follow. They are not optional and form the center of covenantal life. Mercy and salvation are extended through grace, but at the price of obedience and covenantal living.

Atheists do not follow these commands because they do not believe in God. A Christian who defies the commands is not living as a Christian, but as an atheist.

Those who follow the spirit of the Ten Commandments as outlined by Lord Jesus are living according to the covenant. Those who habitually discard them as unimportant are not. We all fall short, sin, and violate the commandments, and are forgiven. But discarding them is atheistic.

It’s heresy, in fact, but at its core is a lack of true belief in the nature of God and the reason we are required to obey the laws.

Thus, living like atheists, as if God doesn’t exist at all and we can pick and choose which of the ten guidelines line up with our own preferences.

Only because I spend so much time agonizing over my own shortcomings. Fix your own eye first, right?
