This actually makes me quite sad. To be just intelligent enough to be angry about social fears, but not to recognize your cognitive faculties for the leverage they provide. This is essentially the capacity level of a particularly smart chimp. That’s heartbreaking.

Because being wrong is the worst possible thing for them. They must be right, or else they are nothing. Physical and social prowess are not their fortes, so intellectual it is, and there, the measure of success is being right. All the time. In everything. I used to be like that.

Got a couple cosmic fuckwits like that in my office. They really can't get to the idea that there's ever anything they do wrong. The very notion is beyond them. Making things worse, they have a speech they give about being "first to admit they're wrong." It's just..."never true"
-
Their reaction to anything that points to them being in the wrong (and we're programmers. It's some cut and dry shit) is to deflect to "extenuating circumstances", throwing anybody not in the room under the bus as fast and hard as they can.

I was wrong once. There was this one time when I thought I had made a mistake... But I was WRONG!

If I was the case that you were talking about, it would be because you hadn't proven me wrong. I will always admit that I am wrong once proven so in my mind.

Ha, you actually seem like a cool guy.
