Yep. We've had 3 Priests in 3 years. It's always an adjustment. 1st was an ex Baptist that went old school on us, 2nd was a partially deaf cradle Catholic heading towards retirement and our newest one is from India and seems super involved with the congregation already.

Most of them do try to do their best. Many get almost zero mentoring once they’re put in a parish (it varies widely from diocese to diocese.). Please do give them the benefit of the doubt....and pray constantly for them! Sounds like you’re keeping a good attitude about it.

I’m just happy to have any new priests at all. They could have us doing aerobics during the homily and we’d still be pleased to see them.
