Commenting on the bloated American university system which raised tuition more than ten times on degrees with little to no expectation of return, thus making it impossible to ever pay off the loans and trapping students in a cycle of debt, was more the aim of this conversation.

Just because something is not readily convertible to monez on Dah Free Markut, does not make it useless. Sorry, this is a pet peeve of mine and a hill I can die on. I see your point, I get it. But art, philosophy, literature etc are not useless just becauset hey are intangible.

A $200,000 degree in exotic animal training (an actual degree a family friend’s child received) then bankrupted the family as they struggled to repay it. It’s idiocy to offer it, and stupidity to take it. Things like that are the issue here.

Last I heard they sold the family home and were living in a rented place to try to pay down the debt.
