“A real man doesn’t care what people think of him.” False. A real man stands for his principles regardless of pressure to abandon them. But in a society where principles are no longer taught, we default to this idea of real men being divorced from all opinions. No honor code.

If only someone had spent time writing a collection of books outlining this principle as the second part of a holy guide to moral living...

What if parts of your tribe openly denounce things that you want or believe? And so you worry what they may think if you achieve them or express your beliefs?

That’s where principles come in. Is that part of your tribe living to the principles, or failing to uphold them? If they’re living to the principles then you’re the one in the wrong and this is a good time to check your own behavior.
