“Why hasn’t there been another Great American Novel?” Because novel writing was dragged into universities and artsy circles where it’s become an expression of feelings instead of a personal craft. Schools stifle creativity to churn out literary snobs who produce formulaic dreck.

Pretty good. Then again I can’t really name a “better” book I wasn’t shocked by the violence like others, but there are subtle things throughout that you may not fully understand their meaning until you finish the book and reflect.

A few things stood out for me. CM uses *no* punctuation for speech. No quotation marks at all. It turned off the 'movie' in my head. It was like seeing a series of silent pictures. New experience here. 2. He's v descriptive. Beautiful use of language in spite of the desolation
