I have yet to see a couple with true emotional intimacy and ongoing openness about their challenges experience an affair.

My grandparents worked through an affair during the beginning years. Had my grandma not demonstrated forgiveness & unconditional as well as my grandpa feeling true remorse & asking for forgiveness... they wouldn’t have been married 57 years before he passed & created their life

For many couples, an affair (while not excusable) finally forces them to be truly open about their problems and create real emotional intimacy as they rebuild a better marriage, as it should have been in the first place. Those who can’t end up tearing each other apart.

This is something I’ve thought about before. I wanna believe I would allow Jesus to heal that wound & work through something like that if it ever happened to me. But I can’t begin to imagine the pain of betrayal to the marriage covenant. That’s the pain God feels yet forgives.
