Just some Sunday thoughts... I've heard many stories from girls whose "friends" would go after a guy once they told them they were into him. Further, many examples of women that attempt to or successfully "steal" another lady's boyfriend/husband.

I wonder if this can be an evolutionary strategy. Vetting costs time, so if a man has already been vetted (especially by a high quality female), then the hard work has been done. Thus, these "lazy" women see this vetted male as one worth pursuing. Vetted man > Non-vetted man.

(I'm not making a moral judgement here. The practice is obviously abhorrent. I just wonder why it seems to be so prevalent and persistent.)
