My dad knows my Twitter handle.

Growing up I was always pretty horrified that my friends and their parents seemingly lived in the same house but never spoke. Their parents would find things out from mine, because they were more comfortable in our home. It was sad to watch.
-
Grew up that way. It’s horrifying from the inside, too.

As someone whose life was actively and intentionally sabotaged by his parents... Yeah. They shouldn't be everything to you, but they should be there. Without that foundation stone you have to spend a lot of energy and time building the ground that others have as granted.

That’s a perfect example of zero mutual trust.

Case in point. This is after I hand-wrote my mom a letter a couple years ago about how her dismissing me hurt & still impacts our relationship (I don't open up to my parents). Never got a response. "Why doesn't he call?" Look in the mirror, Mom.pic.twitter.com/BA36KmOhn8

Man, the pain is real.
