A curious truth: My acquaintances who ten years ago used the n-word and made anti-gay jokes weekly or even daily are now the most vicious and merciless about perceived racism or homophobia, cracking down on perceived sins from those of us who used to cringe at their behavior.

What I don't understand is the people who were one way but then changed are generally still judged for their past. If they have genuinely become less ignorant why do people still bash them? Isnt a change of thought and behavior the desired outcome?
