I get a lot of really kind people sending me DMs and emails about how much they enjoy my books, but their messages start off apologizing for bothering me. And I wonder how awful must other creators be that someone could possible believe sharing joy is a burden?

I have seen creators full on put down and ridicule fans, to their faces, at conventions. Many writers are ass holes, and I don't mean the charming kind of asshole like Harlan Ellison. I mean the "worship me prolls" kind like John Scalzi.

I agree. I am greatly honored when somebody asks me to sign Utopiates or Whispers from the Abyss. I am grateful to my fans. all creators should be.

I wrote a letter to Alan Dean Foster when I was 10. He wrote back and I treasured the handwritten letter. Wrote to him last year. He wrote back again. Blew my mind. Dude is a real class act.
