My brother killed himself about half a year ago. Now the grief has passed and I’m left with thoughts like: “It sure was cruel of him to ruin Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, his birthday, and his mother’s birthday for the entire family.”

I bet he probably never felt his loss would ruin holidays for everyone. I tend to think they'd all be happier if I was gone.

Yes. Though the worry is that your fears will be confirmed. We live in a culture were depressed people are seen as downers to be avoided, "toxic". Most people don't want to risk adding more trouble to their lives by reaching out to those who don't feel worthy to be reached.
