My brother killed himself about half a year ago. Now the grief has passed and I’m left with thoughts like: “It sure was cruel of him to ruin Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, his birthday, and his mother’s birthday for the entire family.”

Suicide is not done through malice, obviously. It’s because the person sees no way out of their pain except through death. But, man, it makes life so much harder on those left behind. At the very least they struggle with anger and bitterness and loss at every reminder.

So if you’re thinking about ending it, reach out. Find someone and dump everything out. Speak out to the people around you. Get help. There’s help out here to be found. There’s hope. Don’t bottle it up and die in silence.
