My father has worked every weekend that I’ve been alive. He runs his own business now and mentally is working 24/7. He never pauses. Every family event can stop at a moment’s notice for him to work instead. Work comes first. Fathers, we need to provide. But don’t be like this.

I'm also grateful to my father for the sacrifices he made, sometimes working 2 jobs to keep things going. Growing up I was fortunate to see him even on weekends. But we gotta do better.

There’s a way. It’s incredibly hard and allows no excuses. But that’s fatherhood.

My parents are in their 60s/70s, and they just recently figured this out. :-/

I think that is the plight of every father. Balancing making sure you can provide for your family vs. spending time with your family. It's important to talk to your kids about that. Make sure they understand so that there is no resentment as they get older.
