And on what law is the new covenant based? Where do we find its commands?

And the rest? Where are they described? How many of them are there? What are the guiding principles Lord Jesus directed us to look at and follow? If your answer (hopefully) is the Ten Commandments to which he directly refers, they’d be found in that “superseded” Testament.

I say differently: The men of old were in fact the first Christians without knowing it. They served God, and Christ is God and was God even at the time before He was known. Indeed, we know from scripture that they are now in Christ. So where comes the dividing line?

The law is the same but the ransom is now paid. Our knowledge of grace is now complete. But the law was ever the same.

Indeed, this is a question I haven’t found an answer to (except for the dietary restrictions which are addressed in Matthew 15:17-20, Mark 7:15-19, and 1 Timothy 4:1-5). As to the dressing and grooming? I’ve been curious as you are. Maybe @SamuelSThorp can teach us both.
