I’ve noticed a recurring theme in female-focused novels: The women talk to themselves internally, even answering themselves. It’s not uncommon to see a stream of internal dialogue arguing back and forth. So, anonymous poll time: Women, do you experience this in real life?

I've also seen a trend of choppy fragmentary internal monologuing that tends to follow a certain rhythm among women writers. Not all women writers who submit to us, but it's a higher % than among submissions by men.

Weren't you people just 7 months ago saying that anyone who doesn't have an internal monologue is an NPC?

An internal monologue is different from a full-out verbal argument inside your head with alternating sides and escalating tension.
