I’ve noticed a recurring theme in female-focused novels: The women talk to themselves internally, even answering themselves. It’s not uncommon to see a stream of internal dialogue arguing back and forth. So, anonymous poll time: Women, do you experience this in real life?

Almost everybody does that. It's probably why Plato chose the format for his works, since it comes so naturally. There must be something wrong with your reflective ability if you don't hold internal debates. Reminds me of the NPC meme...

Given that this is prevalent in female-centric works produced by female authors, I’m curious if the experience extends to real life. Male-centric works with male authors tend not to do this or only have brief internal narration of observations.

Yes, this does very much extend to real life for a majority of adults, regardless of sex. If you haven't experienced it yourself, there's probably something wrong with you.
