My younger brother turned 16 today. He's hunched over with bad posture, on YouTube most of the day, is scrawny and weak, and not very confident. He's somewhat socially awkward and dresses poorly. But I'm not saying all that to shit on him. I'm saying that because of this:

He's agreed to let me mentor him over the next 3 months. That means that if I say we go on a hike then we go. Essentially anything I say goes. While I understand that a necessary part of change is the desire to change yourself, I have a rare opportunity here.

An opportunity to get through to him and actually help create some change. So with that in mind, I want to ask all you guys tagged down below: What are things you would recommend we do to get him on track over the next three months.

I didn’t read anything about his martial knowledge. A man can’t be confident if he fears the impact of flesh or blade. A flincher is prey waiting for a predator. What fighting skills are you proficient enough in to harden him through repeated impacts?

Planning on getting a punching bag soon. Maybe I should accelerate those plans for both our sakes. I love fighting for fun in general. I loved to scrap as a kid. Him, not so much.

This is true. It isn’t only him who will be shaped by these 3 months. This is your chance to learn how to be a leader. A teacher. A father. And for your team of brothers to grow deeper in a forged bond.

Also prevents him from growing resentful and burning out halfway through, which it sounds like he’s accustomed to. Struggle together and lead from the front.
