How tiresome it is to be friends with someone who grovels after every kindness. How enormously fatiguing to have to reassure someone after every favor. Cease your sniveling apologies and learn to thank appropriately. Do not punish kindness by then demanding verbal reassurance.

Learn to express gratitude once. Be succinct yet appreciative. Then move on. If it’s appropriate to mention it one time later to show you remember, limit yourself to one. “Thank you, I really appreciate this kindness.” This is all that’s required. Do not tire your loved ones.
