Attachment crisis traces back to 1930s and the generational struggle to show love in a societal collapse. Love not felt, transmission of affection disrupted, kids felt unwanted and like burdens, had to earn love and approval or rejected it as hopeless. Rise of punk teenagers.

Fallout from that is still being felt. People crave love but no longer believe in it. Need a resurgence of teaching how to give love and display affection. Books like 5 love languages attest to the need for learning.
