Never stop improving. Whatever your craft, keep moving forward. I’m an author. Writing is my craft. I have to continue to advance and grow. I hire a professional editor and pick his teachings apart. I buy popular books and dissect them. I buy terrible books and learn from them.

This week I bought big bundles of old pulp fiction from Robert E Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs to learn how to make my prose burst with punchy phrases. Been reading marketing guides and writing guides. My next book is already with the professional editor to get eviscerated.

Add some Louis L'Amour to your list. Different genre, but good pulp. Not his larger novels, but his smaller westerns. Sackett, Hondo, or Flint are excellent first L'Amour books. Mine was Sackett. Also get some of the first Doc Savage books.
