I’ve got a few authors I look up to. I pursue them and ask endless questions about our shared craft, their story decisions, anything I can get from them to learn and improve my own skill. Always pursue your heroes and always be on the lookout for new (knowledgable) teachers.

I pursue @NickColeBooks because his worlds BREATHE. His works embrace you with full immersion. Reading his novels is an emotional experience, and I crave the skill to manifest that depth in my own works.

I pursue
@BrandonBVarnell because his characters pop right off the page. You can hear their voices in your head and they maintain total consistency even as they grow and ache. The cast becomes a part of your day as you dive into his works. I desperate wish to learn this skill.2 replies 0 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -

Isn’t he just writing smut or am I misinterpreting the well endowed females clutching at each other? This...does not seem consistent with the Christian ethics of chastity and marriage.

That particular series definitely walks a fine line for me, but I’ve been surprised at how maturely he handles the content.

I guess it seems like it’s *all* like that...what am I missing? What’s the series that’s his standard?

I’m not sure he has a standard. He’s all over the place with it. Some series are worse, some are fine, some walk a line. I hardcore avoid works with graphic content but he’s been generally fine for my tastes. Disclaimer: I grew up near San Francisco so I’m numb to much.

Yeah, legit. I have folks with better eyes for that stuff pre-read my works to make sure I’m staying perfectly inline with proper values. Especially my upcoming young adult novels. That’s a line I don’t want to accidentally cross in my works.
