I’ve got a few authors I look up to. I pursue them and ask endless questions about our shared craft, their story decisions, anything I can get from them to learn and improve my own skill. Always pursue your heroes and always be on the lookout for new (knowledgable) teachers.

@BrandonBVarnell because his characters pop right off the page. You can hear their voices in your head and they maintain total consistency even as they grow and ache. From laughing out loud to sneering to pumping a fist and cheering, his books move you with vibrant scenes and settings which swallow you whole. I pursue @BurntScribe because his pacing is superb. He deftly moves the reader through his stories with flawless timing and an exquisite balance of tension and flow which he makes appear effortless. I long to develop this skill for my own works.
