I've done it. Another 4,000 word chapter of nothing but brutal combat has been written. The next chapter is going to have even more brutal combat, which kind of depresses me. I really want to write some fanservice, but I can't because the plot won't let me! DAMN YOU PLOT!!!!

Cut away for a short interlude to show the effects of the brutal combat or another area for a moment? Give the reader a rest?

I've been doing that. But this is detailing a battle between an invading army, my characters and their allies, so I can't take away too much time from it. I'm also at 248,000 words for Act 3. I don't want to add too much content that isn't necessary for the main story.

Each act is about 250,000 to 270,000 words each... which is about 5-6 volumes per act. This is a really long, really epic saga. It's always why I'm careful about padding my word count too much. It's already quite long without that.

Sounds like a serious endeavor. You’re a machine, bro.

It's a huge undertaking. I've been writing one chapter a day, so between 4,000-6,000 words for it every single day. I'm not even sure how long it will be, though I am thinking 3-4 more acts.
