I can speak eloquently and make use of my education, but when I relax I fall into slang and intensely improper grammar. This confuses a lot of people. I have a master’s degree but I grew up in the ghetto with fleas and cockroaches in my bedding and rats screeching in the walls.

I get a lot of “You don’t seem like other educated people,” and I’m probably not. I lived with junkies trying to kick in our door to rape and rob our family until I could scare them off with death threats. I’ve had to fight for my life against people trying to kill me.

Most educated people have never been so hungry they couldn’t sleep, or been kept awake by gunshots and screaming outside. Most have never had to drop to the floor inside their own home in response to attacks.

By the other token, my weird mix of slang and poor grammar throws people off when I do relax. It seems like an act. “Who’s this educate asshole trying to fool?”

The division between those born above poverty and those born below may become entirely invisible with enough cash, but the difference can definitely be heard.

That's what I struggle with when I am trying to plan how I will bring up my future children. I know I'll be rich and I have these options: 1)A little bit spoiling my kids up until age of 21, and then kicking them out and having them survive on their own 2) Military camp at home

Or live as if you’re poor and spend sparingly. Cultivate a home environment like poverty where resources are precious and all luxuries must be earned. Teach them to work and build diligence at tasks because nothing will be given for free. But shower them with love and guidance.

Very complicated. But just remember with every decision: What would serve them best as adults?
