Becoming Catholic means learning a million intricate prayers and rituals, like the rosary. I ask other Catholics for help and they say “Oh haha, you can’t possibly pray the rosary wrong!” Meanwhile in Heaven folks are like “WHAT’S THAT HORRIBLE SOUND?”

Husband compared prayer and bible reading to pushups for me to make me feel better, like when you start one is a big effort, but eventually you get good. I got better at prayers, but not pushups.

Freeform prayers I can do. I spit a mean worship game. But the structured prayers and remembering the steps of the rosary are challenging to me. My memory doesn’t do well with steps and blocks of text.

don't be silly. You are as close to God as any one else. Read St. Therese of Liseux. Just keep turning towards him and bringing him your sin to take away and he is there. He will help you. I am not doing so great right now with being good, but I keep coming to Him with my faith.

It’d help if I wasn’t mumbling what I guess are the responses in Mass.

I get the feeling. I found that praying with other people in your parish helps a lot

That sounds like a fun idea.
