If the faithful see a crisis and panic as if everything is falling apart without hope so they bail out, they are not the faithful.

Oh, I see it the other way, that the politics is a distraction from the faith. All this sin invented by our enemies are our just punishment for what we've made peace with in our hearts. The adulterous jezebel is still a part of the family, just not worth being upset over.

She may be family, but she is not a faithful member. Always she can embrace Christ and turn herself around. But if she sees a mess and bails out on the Church she is not faithful.

Brother I am no Sede but it seems to me this pope invites the comparison. One still needs compassion and forgiveness 7×7. Unless judgement is something you'd want to invite .. you know the rest.

A person must be faithful to be faithful. If they are unfaithful, they are unfaithful. It is not given to us to declare who is and is not part of the family, but we are definitely commanded to rebuke one another for unfaithful conduct. It is right and loving to do so.

Replying to @TheBrometheus @brabakr and
To say that Peter was one of the faithful when he denied Christ three times is incorrect. To say that he returned to the fold and became one of the faithful once more after repenting is accurate. Where is the judgment?

The "Rock" is not so steady is it? That is what I mean, there are objective facts and supernatural facts that only God has command of. Who knows the rightness but who can find fault in themselves first - AND THEN seek the judgement of God?

This seems to imply that Lutherans are equal to Catholics in faithfulness to Christ. Correct me if I’m wrong, but since the Lutheran church is not in communion with the Catholic Church, that would imply the Catholics made the decision that leaving the Church was unfaithful.

Sorry. I don't wish to imply that theft is ever permissible, which Luther set in motion, nor the viscious 30 Years War fought to cover it up. I am saying that after Peter denied Christ and knew his weakness could he accept teaching from St Paul.

Yes indeed, God redeems and turns all things to glorify Himself. It’s the miracle of redemption. :)
