I love when reviews on MAL complain about how an ecchi/harem anime has too much fan service. If you don't want fan service, don't watch an ecchi/harem anime. The entire plot of those series IS the fan service. You're deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

Can confirm. I avoid this genre unless I stumble upon it by accident. Much prefer Shounen romance.

Haven't you watched Monster Musume and a lot of other harem anime? I feel like actual romance anime do an even worse job. 12 episodes of two characters dancing around each other just annoys me. Only a few shojo series like My Love Story were really good romances.

I did watch Monster Musume without knowing what genre it was. Just got rid of the manga when they crossed a serious line for me. Not gonna complain about its existence, just not for me. I’m collecting Nisekoi instead. And One Punch Man because... duh.

Fair enough. Nisekoi was good, though the story dragged on for way too long. I was never big on OPM. The anime was okay, but I felt it was overhyped like most mainstream shonen series. Then again, I'm the guy who watches mostly harem anime, so I know my taste is trash.

Nah not trash, I also enjoy harem stories. Just clean ones. Which admittedly narrows my tastes to... Nisekoi.

It does narrow your options a lot. I prefer my harems lewd. For cleaner stories, I like going with single-pairing romances like My Love Story, Toradora, A Lull in the Sea, and Chobits.

Chobits was one of my wife’s favorites. I do love me some CLAMP.
