I used to play video games 14 hours a day. I love games and stories. But I basically stopped gaming when I realized one thing: My achievements weren’t real, but my family’s disappointment was. I could spend that much time gaming and ignore my kids, or focus on nurturing them.

And in before people get offended and say I’m trashing gamers: If one dude saying games ate up too much of his life is a threat, you need to unplug.

I plan to play the heck out of some games in the future. Just a few. I’ll probably have to take time off work and use the time as a personal recharge day. Now that I’ve unplugged from the constant hype and stimulation, I can choose to enjoy the hobby I one loved so much.
