I grew up in the ghetto. Fleas in my bedding, food stamps, low income housing. Brutal addict neighbors frequently tried to kick in the front door when the grown men left for work. Imagine cowering inside waiting for them to shatter the locks and rape your family. Guns are needed.

Because we had weapons and made that known, we formed a deterrent. I survived to go to college, get a masters degree, and become a psychotherapist treating low income families for severe trauma. Now I’m out of poverty and raising children in safety.

According to your view, it would be best if my family and I had been helpless and become victimized. I may be dead under your policy. I may not be here to help wounded children recover from violence. Please consider your privileged upbringing when you disparage the poor.
