When I converted to Catholicism, so many people told me to become Lutheran instead because they’re “practically the same.” They’re not. Our current Pope just makes it look that way.
Without being snarky, I’m genuinely curious how you see the early Church’s handling of heretics with dangerously skewed teachings?

I think the canonization of the Bible, along with the ecumenical councils was important in drawing the line between what is our faith and what is not. As far as the Church handling individuals I’d have to study more.

Where I see the Church went wrong was when it became a political entity. Power had to be held. Change was weakness. It left no room for reformation when the Church became corrupt.
