Me in September, "How hard could it be?" Me in October, "Got the characters, got the outline, this is great!" Me in November, 20k words behind schedule and Thanksgiving is this week.

Try my 10k words per day method and see if it helps. I did a full write-up on it here. Wrote one full book in under 9 weeks using this method.https://adamlanesmith.com/2018/10/27/my-outlining-and-writing-method/ …

Thanks. I've progressed from "writing is a form of magic," to "Sheesh, I could write a better story than that yahoo over there," and have now graduated to the procrastination squad. NaNoWriMo got me to the stage where writers and posers diverge.

I'd add that having something done is better than having nothing done. While you may be behind your schedule, don't be afraid to take time for family and keep writing when you can. A writer who finishes a book late is still a writer.
