If you think it’s wrong for little kids to identify with characters who have a different skin tone, lighten/darken their skin to better resemble that specific character, and celebrate that connection on a day designated for costumes, then congratulations: You’re a segregationist.
If my kid wanted to dress that way I’d know I did a good job as a parent because he sees so little difference in skin color that he thinks it’s literally JUST COLOR.

If I’m dressing my kid as a blackface minstrel to make light of racial mockery? That’s not cool. But changing skin color to be closer to a character you admire and look up to? Man, we should all aspire to think skin color means so little as that.
